"A sculpture by Muto Junkyu for Akishima! “

Mr. Junkyu Muto has traveled to Europe along after graduated Tokyo University of Art, currently living in Italy, he is active in a wide range of sculptures, paintings, gems, etc. In particular, his work the “Circle Wind " was permanently installed in Papal Imperial Villa in Vatican City in year 2000, as a first achievement in abstract sculpture and established his position as an artist. Since then, as a monument symbolizing world peace, his work has been permanently installed as a message to future generations at Mahabodhi Temples (World Heritage) in Buddha Gaya in India, originated in Buddhism and Devils Tower in Native American sacred place, Wyoming . It is said that permanent installation of these series of works is the first attempt of world art history.

It is 700 meters north of Akishima Station, which is adjacent to the north side of Forest Inn Showakan Hall called "Daikanyama". Despite the location close to the city area, the beautiful nature of Musashino remains in this place, and it is said that in the urban planning master plan, which is the basic policy of Akishima City's town development, conservation as a green base is carried out. Mr. Junkyu Muto seems to have felt that the place of exhibition as his work, by walking around this forested area when staying at Forest Inn Showakan, interacting with the mother nature.

"To create a space that allows you to touch art with nature by placing the work itself so that it blends into sunlight through the forests could be preserved”. This Showa no Mori Project is probably not the first attempt in Japan.

Establishing a sculpture museum that can be freely appreciated in the green space called Daikanyama which brings a sense of relaxation to the minds of Akishima citizens and the Showa no Mori visitors also has a great impact to the daily life. It also confirms to the basic policy listed in "Akishima City Culture and Art Promotion Basic Ordinance" established for the purpose of contributing to the realization of a vibrant community. In particular, for children who will be responsible for the future, I am convinced that establishing an environment familiar with nature and art closely will make a great contribution to developing sensibility and imaginative humanity.

Forest Fairies

While the sun shines through the natural forest of Musashino. Somewhere as nine fairies who get a glimpse of it. With such resemblance, the thought that there was a forest was become conscious. It became a wonderful sculpture garden. In the light of the day, bringing back life in nature. Sometimes I can see it if I listen to the whispers of the wind. Sculptures that bring out various emotions with the forest. Here is a space that leads us into fairy tale from our daily life. Beyond ethnicity, nationalities, languages and religions. Sincerely, I hope that it will be a forest where various impressions meet each other.
